Purple.

tfs

Chloe by Terry with a naked Raquel Zimmermann and a Chanel portfolio inside.
Oliver Zahm may be 'alternative' in his lifestyle choices, but sure he knows how to put together a good magazine.

On another note Lou Doillon is in the new season of Gossip Girl? clearly a must watch.

Oops she did it Again..

style.com

The gorgeous Miss Spears on the cover of the new POP, shot by Todd Cole and style by Takashi Murakami, looking very reminiscent of her nineties heyday. These covers remind me of the kind of cheesy Japanese pop magazine that Britney would have been on around the time she wore school uniforms and leather catsuits. Dasha Zhukova here shows her willingness to try something new after the previous excellent Abbey Lee cover, giving her promising status as the magazine's new editor after Katie Grand's departure.

With the recent return of Levi's 501's, 90210 remakes and military shirts, the 90's revival is obviously going strong, now all we need is a Freaks and Geeks reunion plus a Dawsons Creek inspired editorial please.

French Women do it better.

chanel.com

Clemence, Charlotte and Anna at Chanel Couture.
So chic, these French women show that simplicity really is the key (along with an abundance of Chanel), as I am getting older and poorer I am really starting to consider the idea of the French capsule wardrobe. I feel I should be buying basics that last for years like a great coat, boots, simple white shirts and bags (Chanel 2.55!). However, this is not to say it is just beautiful clothes that makes these women appeal to me, it is there chic polished attitude along with long term muse relationships to established French designers that make them such an inspiration.

Dream Items for my 'French' wardrobe
1. Chanel 2.55
2. Good quality black wool slightly cropped trousers
3. White silk shirt (Chloe?)
4. Acne Rita Leather Jacket
5. Chanel Two Tone Flats
6. See by Chloe Silk and Wool Printed Dress.
7. Lover Tilly Lace Top.

Plus anything Isabel Marant and more Lover (ok I am evidently not made for a capsule wardrobe!)...

Marc Jacobs

The Marc Jacobs Autumn Winter campaign shot by Juergen Teller and featuring Ann Kenny, Monika Jagaciak and Frida Gustavsson has appeared. These folksy images of long haired beauties in long skirts, camel, ankle socks and bohemian dresses look like they're from another era and almost remind me of The Virgin Suicides. Juergen Teller again uses his talent for simplicity to transport the observer to a world that is both dreamlike and realistic.

Margaret Howell A/W 2010.

tfs

Margaret Howell's Autumn Winter campaign, featuring the gorgeous Alana Zimmer and photographed by Venetia Scott came out this week. The multitude of shearling, tweed and cord in this collection ensured it was one of my favourites of London Fashion Week and the ad campaign which looks like it's set at Oxbridge in the eighties is just perfect. These images of Alana strolling through an old house reminds me of films including Annie Hall and the upcoming Never Let me Go. The juxtaposition of masculine and feminine in Howell's collections which feature a multitude of tweed, checks and silk shirts simultaneously remind me of a Grandma and a hipster. The final image of Alana in a chair with natural hair and make up and a gorgeous mid length skirt is my favourite, and perfectly encapsulates this seasons return to femininity.

Freaks and Geeks, The Trends.

I have recently become obsessed with the underrated Judd Apatow show Freaks and Geeks, which literally launched everyone including James Franco, Jason Segal, Seth Rogan and Busy Phillips. This show focuses around the life of Lindsay Weir (Linda Cardellini) her brother Sam (John Francis Daley) and their respective freak and geek friends. Despite being set in 1980, Freaks and Geeks makes some interesting style statements which clearly fit in with the Autumn/Winter 2010 aesthetic; secretly I can't help but hope Christopher Bailey took tips from Sam Weir this season..

Shearling

I wouldn't be surprised to see anonymous hipsters in the coat Sam wears throughout Freaks and Geeks and Nick's jacket is very similar to one that is currently in Topshop.
Due to my love of shearling, I will clearly be channelling Sam Weir this season.

Military

The jacket that symbolises Lindsay's 'rebellion', she always wears it when she's one of the Freaks, is clearly a reference to the military trend.

Maxi Skirt

Intended to be reserved and signal Lindsay's return to the mathlete fold, spotted in the 2000's on Mary Kate..

Camel
My personal favourite Bill rocking camel, as seen in abundance at Chloe this season. Mr Weir also looking stylish in a cardigan/tie combination.

Shirts

Lindsay and Nick, in checked and safari shirts.

Notable Mentions:
Bill in a fishing hat.
Sam's stripe/chino combinations.
Nick's high waisted maroon trousers.
Daniel's leather jacket addiction.

Aah this has cheered me up slightly, now I have no episodes left to watch. Clearly a show that should not have been cancelled on such a cliffhanger, I now just have to dream that Daniel bonded more with the geeks, Lindsay and Nick reunited and most of all that Lindsay got a new jacket after she returned from stalking The Grateful Dead..
